1. For the home body: The Mirror

Best fitness gifts: lululemon Studio Mirror

If your loved one is a fan of home workouts, the lululemon Studio Mirror checks all the boxes and then some. This fitness device looks like a regular mirror (so it should fit right in with any interior décor), but allows users to stream hundreds of workout classes through a hidden smart screen. When we put the Instagram-famous workout device to the test we loved its sleek design and were thrilled with the classes and instructors—from live classes to easy-to-follow workouts. We found it to be especially worthwhile for folks who enjoy bodyweight exercises, like Pilates and yoga.

2. For the avid runner: Adidas NMD_R1 Sneakers

Best fitness gifts: Adidas NMD_R1 shoes

For those who are training for a marathon, enjoy an occasional morning jog or live on the treadmill when they head to the gym, a solid pair of sneakers is a wardrobe essential. The Adidas NMD_R1 shoes are a fan-favorite, with sturdy and supportive soles and a breathable and lightweight knit upper. Our tester called the kicks “the most comfortable running shoes I’ve ever put on,” and noted that there is no break-in period—so your fitness-loving friends can wave goodbye to blisters and sore feet for good.

3. For the one that lives in leggings: lululemon Align High-Rise Pant

Best fitness gifts: lululemon leggings

lululemon Align high-rise leggings are the perfect holiday gift for any fitness buff—but they’re also great for anyone who loves slipping into cute and comfy loungewear on the daily. The cult-favorite leggings are available in tons of chic shades and are made with lululemon’s proprietary Nulu fabric, so they feel buttery soft and breathable. When we put the workout pants to the test we were seriously impressed—our tester said the leggings were stretchy and “squat-proof,” calling them her “happily ever after.”

LesMills SMARTBAR weight set

The SMARTBAR weight set from LesMills is an exciting new take on fitness equipment that makes it easier than ever to make your workouts faster and more efficient. This high-quality home gym equipment is designed to make it much easier to switch out weight plates with almost zero effort. Forget about hard-to-manage clips, the SMARTBAR plates snap into the gator ends securely and can then be released just as easily without any separate parts to drop or lose. The gator ends also rotate while you’re lifting to make your workouts smoother and with less strain on your wrists. This set comes with 3 pairs of cast iron core plates (2.2, 5.5, and 11lb) that can even be used as hand weights for a full-body workout because they have built-in grips in the center and edges. The square shape of the plates also means that they won’t roll away when they are clipped to the barbell. I think this set is awesome and have been using it regularly for my own workouts. It’s an extremely well-made set and I love how easy it is to switch out the plates.

Fitness fanatics can be pretty intense. You’ll probably identify us from miles away, decked out in workout gear, obsessing over the food we eat, or discussing our gains nonstop. A fitness lover has probably invested a lot of time and money into tools that can help improve performance, which can make us tough to shop for — we probably already have everything we need! But we’re also very likely to be super excited by any new toy that could boost our workouts. Plus, the most dedicated of us probably wear out our favorite gear quickly enough that we could always use new stuff.

What to get a fitness lover

It’s natural to assume that gifts for fitness lovers must be used during workouts, but recovery is an equally important (and frequently overlooked) part of anyone’s fitness journey. And presents for fitness lovers don’t have to be tech-infused, either. Gift cards to their favorite athleisure or fashion brands would probably be well-received, while compression braces or socks can provide them physical support. A pair of gloves would also help your weightlifting pal avoid getting more calluses, and special insoles can turn decent running shoes into great running shoes.

A versatile gift for anyone trying to keep active would be a resistance band, which suits a variety of strength levels and is very travel friendly. And, as my sports chiropractor constantly reminds me, a foam roller is the best thing for my sore muscles.

Tech gifts for fitness fans

Of course there are plenty of gadgets targeting exercisers and our muscles. From traditional machines like treadmills to smart skipping ropes and VR boxing simulators – the land of fitness tech gets stranger by the day.

As someone who’s recently become somewhat of a workout fiend, I would enthusiastically welcome anything that’s related to improving my performance. I’ve tested all manner of devices — whether it’s Gatorade’s sweat patch and hydration-tracking bottle or smart mirrors and form-checking cameras. From my experience, single-purpose devices are the most likely to sit around unused. Things like the Gatorade bottle and Fiture mirror, for example, which actually serve a purpose even if they’re deactivated, are more likely to withstand the test of time. Here are our favorite tech products for fitness lovers.

Garmin Forerunner 745

Engadget

Serious runners swear by Garmin’s Forerunner series. They’re the gold standard for running watches, thanks to their accuracy and comprehensive suite of features. You can track your cadence, stride length, ground contact time, balance and more, but Garmin also helps monitor your recovery time and training load.

It’ll analyze your performance and workouts, using your aerobic and anaerobic data to see what effect your exercise is having on your endurance, speed and power. The

As people continue to look for ways to stay active without setting foot in a gym or studio, one of the best gifts you can give this year is a way to help your loved ones freshen up their home workout routine and boost their motivation to stay active.

From dumbbells and yoga blocks to fitness trackers and smart home gyms, there are plenty of at-home fitness gifts to suit everyone on your list.

We rounded up the best at-home fitness gifts to suit a range of ages, fitness levels, and budgets using the following criteria:

  • Recommendation. First and foremost, all of the products on our list come highly recommended by our trusted colleagues.
  • Quality and value. From water bottles and headphones to cardio equipment and virtual fitness subscriptions, we included high quality items that are useful on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Price. We know budgets can vary, so we included gifts at a range of price points.
  • Vetting. All the products included have been vetted to ensure that they meet Healthline’s medical and business standards.

Here are our picks for the best at-home fitness gifts of 2021.

Te-Rich Resistance Bands

Resistance bands are great for building strength and improving alignment. They’re also lightweight and portable, so you can stash them in your bag for quick, on-the-go workouts.

What’s more, resistance bands are highly versatile, making them suitable for intense workouts and gentle stretches.

While there are many resistance bands to choose from, Healthline Senior Nutrition Editor Lisa Valente recommends the Te-Rich Resistance Bands, remarking, “I’ve had rubbery elastic resistance bands before that ripped or never felt great. These fabric ones are such a nice upgrade for doing some basic strength training at home. I even keep one in my office and just do banded walks down the hall for some extra movement between meetings.”

The bands come in three resistance levels and are made of comfortable cotton material with latex grips to help keep them in place.

Spri Dumbbells

Spri dumbbells

Free weights are an excellent way to build strength, increase stability, and improve coordination. They also make a great gift for people looking to incorporate more strength training into their routine.

The Spri dumbbells are available as singles or in pairs with weights ranging from 3–50 pounds (1.36–23 kg).

The rubber dumbbells protect the floor and reduce noise, while the textured chrome handles offer a comfortable grip.

These dumbbells are a go-to piece of equipment for Healthline Editor II Chelsea Logan who raves, “They’re easy to grip, and the hexagonal shape means they stay put when you set them down. Plus, they’re really durable, and the metal grip is easier to clean than vinyl.”

Gaiam Essentials Yoga Block

Gaiam Yoga Essentials Block

Lightweight and portable, the Gaiam Essentials Yoga Block is ideal for any yoga lover on your gift list.
